The price difference between the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is about Rs. 1000/- for the 6GB+128GB variant. However, if you opt for “Max” version, you will get advantage of upgraded camera. Refer below table for camera differences.

Redmi Note 9 Pro & Max Camera Difference

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has got major upgrade in the camera setup, both at the rear and the front. The front selfie camera pixels are doubled when compared with the non-Max version. The above table says it all.

The Redmi phones usually have camera features in abundance. The Note 9 Pro Max has additional features, here’s the list – The rear camera features such as 960 fps slow motion video, rear camera video beautify, time-lapse photography, pro-video mode, movie frame, super stabilization and 720p slow motion recording at 960fps/240fps/120fps are good for only for the “Max” version.

The selfie camera has two additional features – magic mirror and kaleidoscope.

All other things remain same, most importantly the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. Both the phones have the same battery power – 5020mAh Li-Polymer battery. However, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max includes 33W fast charge in the box.

Trackin Tech un-boxing video

Arun Prabhudesai’s “Trackin Tech” channel trends when searched for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max un-boxing videos. He gives a fair idea about the phone with more positive and less negative views.

I agree to what he says that there are no major changes except in the camera department and the 33W charger inside box. I liked the way he dropped the phone down hinting us that the phone may sustain accidental falls. Moreover, this phone is protected with P2i coating to save it from accidental spills and splashes.

The photography results are good, the phone charges 50% in 30 minutes and that’s good too. However, the max refresh rate of 60Hz is disappointing as the current standards are 90Hz.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max runs the latest MIUI 11 that still shows you adds that you don’t want to see. There’s a lot of bloatware and I hope those can be uninstalled.

With all powerful hardware inside, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will top the performance for sure. Gaming and mobile photography should be fun.

What other reviewers say? Gadget 360

According to Gadget 360, “the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is bulky and unwieldy which makes one handed use difficult.” That can be true because of the size of the phone, it’s better to opt for smaller size Redmi Note phones.

“The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 should help withstand the daily usage” It is obvious; the phone can sustain accidental fall from the pocket.

“The side mounted fingerprint scanner is embedded into the power button on the right of the phone. We weren’t happy with its positioning since it is higher than where our finger rests naturally. The volume buttons are higher than the side mounted fingerprint scanner and not convenient to reach.” This can be an issue but not for all.  We just unlock the phone once and increase or decrease the volume as required.

“Sadly, there’s too much preinstalled bloatware. That includes apps such as Helo which are known to be spammy when launched. Xiaomi’s stock apps can also get annoying at times, and we were bombarded with notifications by an app store called Get Apps. Xiaomi’s wallpaper carousel also kept pushing notifications, which we consider unacceptable.” This is the worrying part and I hope there is a way to get rid of bloatware and apps.

“While the big display is not great for single handed use, it is very helpful while gaming and watching videos.” This is a note to PUBG and COD gamers!

The new Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is more powerful, offers better battery life, packs in good cameras, and runs the latest version of Android. Indeed, this phone has a combination of powerful hardware and latest OS.

If you opt for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max instead non-max version, you get a camera with a higher resolution and a fast charger inside the box for just Rs. 1000 more. It is very easy to decide; you choose which one to buy!
